Riemvasmaak Development Initiative

Project Name

The project community is situated 60 km of the town of Kakamas. The area of about 700 hectares is boarded by the Orange River in the south, the Kalahari in the North and by Namibia in the West. Riemvasmaak is approximately 136 km from Upington by road. The whole area is managed by the Siyanda District Municipality.
Tourism has been identified as a mayor sector to contribute to the economy of the community through job creation by sustaining tourism in the region. A master plan has been developed for the community. The master plan propose tourism development involves two phase. Phase 1 which include enhancing, improving and maintaining existing tourism facility in Riemvasmaak and phase 2 will expanding the existing tourism operation unlock the total tourism potential of Riemvasmaak.
