Attracting Investment, in State Coastal Maritime Infrastructure and Properties, to Grow Businesses, Create Jobs, Stimulate Economic Growth and generate revenue and ensure economic transformation”.

The Department of Publics in conjunction with the Provincial Government of the Northern Cape will be Hosting an Investment Conference in Port Nolloth on the week of the 12 -14 SEPTEMBER 2017.

OBJECTIVE

The Aim of the Conference is to attract Investors and engage on the development of the State Coastal Maritime Infrastructure and Properties in order to Grow Business, create Jobs, stimulate Economic Growth and generate revenue.

PROFILE OF THE NAMAKWA REGION

The Namakwa Region is situated in the North Western corner of the Northern Cape Province and the country border bordering Namibia and the Atlantic Ocean. Mining and Agricultural sectors provide most employment, while tourism and small scale manufacturing are also present. Namakwa District covers a geographic size of area of 126836 km².

The focus is based on the three municipalities in Namakwa Region, that is:

  • Port Nolloth – Alluvial Mining, Mini Waterfront, Fishing and Acquaculture, Small Ships/ Boat Building and Maintenance
  • Kleinsee – Special Economic Zone and Aquaculture use
  • Hondeklipbaai – Fishing and Aquaculture, Alluvial Mining

Mining and Beneficiation

Support and promote the localisation and value addition of Diamonds in the Northern Cape.

Renewable energy

The coastal strip is also ideal for wind and wave energy projects.

Mari culture and Aqua culture

Mariculture offers sufficient growth potential to replace diamond mining in Nama Khoi.

Tourism

Promote the tourism sector and create awareness of as a tourist destination.
